Understanding the OPPO BDT-101CI - is it the player for you?
You're in the market for a new Blu-ray player, and you want quality over quantity. The OPPO BDT-101CI could be the player you have been searching for.
With a focus on offering a system that is giving you everything you need, and nothing you don't, OPPO have released a transport player just for that purpose.
Stepping away from the 'Swiss Army Knife' approach of the 103 and 105 series players - where adding extensive features compliment the high quality players - the OPPO BDT-101CI is a player that brings it all back to basics. Although, there is the option to customise if you have a particular requirement (more on this point below).
At $599 RRP this is what comes straight out of the box:
- Universal disc format support including Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D1, DVD, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, CD, HDCD and more
- Upscaling to Ultra HD (4K) resolution
- VRS® (Video Reference Series) ClearView™ video processing
- Dolby® TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus decoding
- DTS-HD Master Audio™ decoding
- Bitstream output compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS-X
- Three USB ports for playback of media files2 (AVCHD, MKV, AVI, MP4, WAV, FLAC, APE, DSD, etc.)
- Ethernet port for BD-Live, firmware upgrade and home network media file playback
- True 24p™ video for Blu-ray encoded in 24Hz frame rate and optional conversion of DVD to 24p
- Multiple zoom modes
- Advanced picture control including video smoothing, detail and edge enhancement
- Premium 32-bit audio DAC by AKM
- Optical and coaxial digital audio outputs
- Rigid steel chassis and center mounted disc loader, with motion balance and vibration isolating mechanisms
- Back-lit remote control
So why purchase a BDT-101CI instead of the other OPPO models that are currently available?
- You are in the process of making the ultimate home theatre, and you need a disc player that produces impeccable image quality to compliment the rest of your setup. The use of the VRS® (Video Reference Series) ClearView™ leaves other mass market players in the dust when it comes to image quality.
- Netflix and other streaming media services are completed by another device (like an Apple TV or Google ChromeCast), but you still need to play blu-ray, CD, DVD, SACD and other physical media.
- You need a transport player that can work with IP Control, for the more advanced custom installer.
Flexibility is key when making a transport player for the custom integrator, and this is where the OPPO BDT-101CI can adapt to particular requirements in an audio visual installation. The modular design of the OPPO BDT-101CI opens up the possibilities with the following items available for additional purchase (not for consumer install, to be completed by your local authorised dealer):
- Additional HDMI output module, creating 2 x HDMI outputs
- HDBaseT output module for long cable runs
- 7.1ch analog audio output module
- Rack mount kit
Please contact you local OPPO Video dealer/installer for more details.
Notes:
1 Requires proper 3D television and glasses.
2 Compatibility with user-encoded contents or user-created discs is on a best-effort basis with no guarantee due to the variation of media, software and techniques used.
